Encaustic Workshop at Baldessin Press
I’ve arrived here at St Andrews for my encaustic and paper workshop over this coming weekend. It’s such a beautiful and inspiring place, and Tess and Lloyd such pleasant company. I’m very excited to be here. Tess even gave me a piece of George’s famous silvered printing paper!
Today’s experiments.
Today I experimented with bleach on coloured paper, and using wax as a resist.
Stitching
I have been joining some of my prints with some rather crude stitching. It adds texture to the work, and visually reinforces the presence of the hand.
25 x 25 – Contemporary Japanese and Australian Prints.
25 Japanese Printmakers together with 25 members from Sydney printmakers come collectively as one to celebrate the cultural collaboration of printmaking.

Encaustic and rust monotypes
Here’s some more new experiments with rust, wax, tea and ink. I’m enjoying not feeling constrained by paper size and shape. Whether these eventually end up as mounted and framed work is beside the point. I’m learning more about the way these materials behave with every mark I make.
