I do love the way light penetrates waxed paper. This is destined to be a lamp, and I’m working to make it completely stable and workable. I burned thousands of holes into the paper over some days. It was quite a meditative process.

New Work
I am having a solo show at the Incinerator in six months time, so I’m trying to get a lot of work done so that I have as many options as possible. I’m working to the theme ‘Lucent’, so all the pieces will have something to do with light, (or its absence, perhaps..)
This is waxed paper, folded, with stitching in silver thread. I bought the thread at a stoop sale in Brooklyn, so I’m really enjoying remembering my short time there, while I stitch. My needle makes lovely circular marks in the paper that let the light through.
