Hello Anthea. If you were to start a new piece from scratch, have you thought about using acrylic gel medium on the back of just plain canvas and front of the wood panel and lay them together. You would then put a sheet of clean plexi on top and then lay some weights on it. Let it dry overnight and then start to use the wax medium. I don’t know what your intention is but that could work. Just trying to help.
Yes. And perhaps the plaster might flake off. But perhaps I can present it in a way that stops that happening. Research!
